"He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry." Psalm 146:7 (New International Version)
Feed the Need Ministry is a loose knit group of people organized by Rico Bell and consisting of Terry Teakell's 8:30am Sunday School class (based out of Blackshear Place Baptist Church in Oakwood, Georgia) and other individuals and contributing businesses who bring food, clothing and hope to those who are less fortunate in the Gainesville area. Feed the Need Ministry works in concert with individuals and groups from a number of local churches.
Feed the Need Ministry gets together several times a year to provide food, clothing, and other items to larger groups of people in need. Food and other items are served or distributed from a church, a school, a parking lot or a business.
Under the umbrella of Helping Hands Foreign Missions and in conjunction with Belmont Baptist Church, Blackshear Place Baptist Church, Hopewell Baptist Church and other local churches with donations of food and equipment from sponsors, Feed the Need Ministry held a Halleluiah block party for needy folks in the Melrose Park area. Two bands, featured speakers, plenty of food, and activities were provided free of charge.
Feed the Need delivers meals and other items every Monday evening at 7:00pm to downtown Gainesville homeless people living on the street.
